| Dr. Pugh has been chair of the Biblical Counseling Department since 1988, and gives leadership to the masters programs in counseling. He has a masters degree from Shippensburg University and Capital Bible Seminary. He has been active in counseling practice for the past 21 years. |

Purpose
The Marriage and Family Counseling program at Lancaster Bible College is designed to provide training that will give entry-level qualifications for marriage and family counseling opportunities, state licensure, and professional certification.

Admission Requirements
- Accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Transcript of undergraduate studies with GPA of 3.00 or higher
- Major in Bible or completion of Bible Entrance Courses
- Autobiographical statement
- Two letters of recommendation
- Completed application and fee
- Interview with program director
Program Design
Because the M.A. program is designed for the part-time student, most courses meet either Friday night or Saturday during the fall and spring semesters. In addition, one week modular courses are offered in early January and throughout the summer months. Most students are able to complete the program in four years, with five years being the maximum time allowed.
Program Outcomes
The Marriage and Family Counseling program is designed:
- To equip the student with theoretical orientation that is necessary for addressing human relationships, gender, sexuality, and communication in the context of marriage and family therapy.
- To provide educational training to enhance the prospective counselor’s clinical skill necessary for marriage and family therapy.
- To create within the student the ability to conduct critical thinking skills to evaluate theory and practice from a biblical perspective.
- To provide an emphasis on application of information and knowledge by means of supervised counseling experiences.
- To develop the student’s knowledge of the foundational elements in counseling theory and research to prepare students for further study.
