Philosophy Statement

Biblical Base

  • We recognize that God owns everything. "The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." Psalm 24:1
  • We recognize that ownership and possession are not the same.
  • We recognize that God shall supply all of our needs and more. "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippines 4:19
  • We recognize that God expects Christians to be wise stewards. ". . . for God loveth a cheerful giver." II Corinthians 9:7
  • Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful." I Corinthians 4:2; Matthew 25:14-30
  • We recognize that giving to God's work is a testimony to the fact that the Lord is the owner of all we are and have. "Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine." Proverbs 3:9-10
  • We will commit ourselves to asking God for the resources necessary for our needs. In addition, we will ask God's people for the resources to operate and advance His work here at LBC. ". . . ye have not, because ye ask not." James 4:2

Resolution

  • We affirm that God's Word is our reference point, and our willingness to submit to God's view of stewardship is the true test of stewardship.
  • Our stewardship efforts will be bathed in prayer.
  • Our stewardship efforts will always attempt to glorify God.
  • We will depend on the Holy Spirit's guidance and prompting.
  • We will endeavor to communicate, teach, and lead Christians to be wise stewards with our fund-raising efforts.
  • We will operate according to the College's fund-raising policy, which is in accordance with Biblical principles of stewardship.
  • We will use high ethical standards and good manners for promotion and solicitation.
  • We will not manufacture crisis situations that would exploit our donors and friends.
  • We will not lend, sell, or publish donor lists.
  • Our fund-raising strategy will be to develop potential donors through building friendships into lasting donor partnerships.
  • We will not attempt to hinder the fund-raising efforts of other Christian organizations and/or ministries.
  • We will abide by the laws that govern fund-raising practices.
  • We will not employ fund-raisers on a commission-for-services basis.
